When something goes wrong
Each of these is something people ran into while we tested Lite, and what to do about it. If yours isn't here, open an issue on this project's GitHub page under the Issues tab and tell us what you were trying to do and what you saw.
Starting
I pressed Start and it asked "Where do your projects live?"
That's the first thing Lite needs from you, and it asks once. Click Use a Projects folder in Documents and Lite makes one, or choose a folder where you already keep your work. Every site and proposal you make goes inside it as its own folder, which is also what lets Ship put a site online later.
I pressed Start and nothing seemed to happen
Claude starts in the background, and within about half a minute the new conversation opens by itself. It also appears at the top of the Conversations list on the left (below Home on a phone). If a minute passes and nothing opens, read the line under the box, then go through the next question.
The box on Home is greyed out, or Start does nothing at all
Home usually puts a line under the box saying why. These are the causes, most likely first:
- No AI can run yet, which Setup's Your AI step shows as a red dot: press Sign in to Claude, or Use another AI.
- Claude has never been set up on this Mac. Open Terminal once from Applications, then Utilities, type
claude, press Return and answer its questions, then come back and press Start again. The tutorial's first box has the same steps. - Open Setup, then Tools Mehtagent needs, and check that Keeps Claude working and Connects Mehtagent to Claude both have a green dot.
In a conversation
Claude seems stuck
Check Home for a card under "Is your AI waiting on you?". Nearly always, Claude has stopped to ask you something, and the card has the answer buttons.
A card asks "Allow it?" and I don't know what to pick
Allow lets Claude make that one change. Allow every change from now on lets it keep going without asking for the rest of this conversation. If you're not sure, choose Allow and watch what it does next.
The box at the bottom says "Reply where this conversation started"
You started that conversation in Claude Code's own window, so Lite can show it but has nowhere to type. Start the next one from Home and the box works. If you started it from Home and the line under the box says Claude has finished this conversation, Claude has stopped working on it. Start the next one from Home too.
I dropped a file and it said the type can't be added
Lite takes images, PDFs, text, Markdown, CSV and JSON files up to 10 MB. For anything else, put the file in the project folder and tell Claude its name.
"Put it online" says the files are outside your projects folder
Only a conversation whose folder is inside your projects folder can go online from Lite. Start the site from Home and Claude makes it in the right place.
Putting a site online
Ship says "Sign in to Vercel" and I don't have an account
Vercel is a free service that puts websites online. Click Sign in to Vercel: a short code appears on the page and a Vercel page opens in your browser. If you have no account, that page lets you create one, and the easiest way is "Continue with GitHub". Then type the code and approve.
"Let Vercel use your GitHub" asks which repositories to allow
Pick only your site's folder, since you can add more later.
The preview failed
Ship shows the reason under your project. If the site did not build, go back to the conversation, ask Claude to fix the build, then make a new preview.
Vercel says I'm signed out
Ship's second step turns back into a button, and signing in again from there takes about a minute.
Keys and spending
Do I need an API key?
Not for Claude, which uses your Claude account; Setup's Your AI step is the one sign-in it needs. You need a key only for another company's models, such as Gemini through OpenRouter, and it goes in Setup's Keys and agents step, never into a conversation.
OpenRouter stopped working
Open Setup, then Keys and agents. If the OpenRouter row says Refused, press Replace and paste a new key. Then look at the spending line. If the last seven days of spending reached your limit, Lite stops using OpenRouter until the total drops, and raising the limit starts it again.
Your licence
Where do I get a code?
Use the code from the email that brought you here. If you have none, open the app and type your email under No code yet? to start a free trial.
My trial has ended
The app shows one card: choose Lite or Pro to pay in your browser, or press Want free access? Ask for a code. Your files stay on your Mac either way.
The app itself
A banner says "Mehtagent is not answering"
Quit it from the diamond in the menu bar and open it again from Applications. Lite keeps your conversations and settings.
macOS wouldn't open the app the first time
Apple hasn't notarized this early build yet, so macOS blocks it the first time. Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway.
I want the full version
Lite shows the simple view only. The full version needs a licence. Reply to your invitation to ask for one, and Setup's You step will say when it is on.
